The 06E Special Conservator of the Peace (SCOP) course is a 24-hour entry-level training program mandated by the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS). This course is designed for individuals seeking registration as private security professionals granted limited law enforcement authority under the Code of Virginia.

Limitations, responsibilities, and administrative sanctions
2. Duties and Responsibilities
Training covers:
Scope of authority
Professional standards of conduct
Roles and expectations for SCOPs in various operational environments
3. Legal Procedures and Due Process
Students receive in-depth instruction in:
Constitutional law
Criminal and civil law
Probable cause
Arrest procedures
Search and seizure requirements
Documentation and report writing
4. Ethics and Professional Conduct
Emphasis is placed on:

Practical Skills & Scenario Training
The course is structured into three days of classroom instruction followed by a fourth day dedicated entirely to hands-on practical exercises, including:

Vehicle positioning and approach tactics
Traffic stops procedures
Writing summonses
Safe extraction of individuals from vehicles
Officer safety and communication techniques
Optional Firearms Training
Students may elect to complete additional firearms instruction, such as the 07E Handgun Course, if armed duties are required by their employer or appointment order.
